DRAGONS!

I am not sure when my fascination with dragons started. I realize that they never existed, but I love the fantasy that surrounds the creatures! A dragon can be any color or size and have almost any ability. Even our wedding cake and toasting glasses had dragons. We have dragons in almost every room of our house. They come from the wonderful artistry of Ruth Thompson. These are just three of the many prints we have of her's!

Dogs

I laugh when people tell me that my dogs don't understand what I am saying. I can tell Isaboo to "Go Get Daddy" and she will go find Troy. I can tell her to "Please move" and she will move out of the way. She reacts to more than just your standard "Sit and Stay" commands. People also say that dogs can not see color. Yet each of my dogs are color coded, Sabrina is purple, Bear is red and Isaboo is pink. If you take out the purple leash they know Sabrina is going some where. Sabrina knows the purple blanket is her's. So, you can't tell me that dogs can't understand what we are saying or can't see colors. Because I know mine can!

Night Shots

I love night photography. I'm not good at it. I don't really have the patience for it! I also hate lugging around a tripod and I don't have a remote for my camera. All of which I know is needed for good night shots. At least now that I am shooting digital I am not wasting rolls and rolls of expensive 1600 ISO film plus the cost to develop it! Some day I will get a great night shot of Downtown Minneapolis. Someday when I have the patience to shoot the same thing over and over again until I get something I like!

Menu Planning

I plan out dinners for a month at a time. I don't always make what is planned but it is at least a great stand by. No longer am I trying to decide at 6:00 on the way home what to make for dinner. I use a few resources when I am planning out the month. First of all I ask Troy what he'd like. Then I figure out what I have in the fidge, freezer and pantry. Then I look through my cooking magazines and cookbooks or even online for new recipes to try. I fill in the days that I am not going to be around for dinner time so Troy knows he's on his own or he knows what to throw in the oven when I am on my way home.Usually this takes me a couple of days to fill in the calendar. Then when I am done I  move on to my grocery list and coupons!

Haven't Made This in a While

I made beef stew for dinner. I am sick of soup, it's all I seem to be eating lately with being sick and all, but today I made beef stew and homemade biscuits. I am still working on that biscuit recipe. It was a nice change for once to have something warm and filling that isn't soup!

Big Bowl & Dragons!

So I do not normally like spicy food but there is something about the Firey Chicken Dumplings at Big Bowl that I just crave. We went to see How to Train Your Dragon tonight and before the movie we went to dinner at Big Bowl. First of all I am loving the fact that Big Bowl now takes reservations. So we had a great dinner! Followed by an awesome movie! I have all sorts of ideas on how to turn Isaboo into a dragon!

Minneapolis

I always forget how beautiful the city of Minneapolis can be. You always hear about the bad things that happen but you never hear about the good! Minneapolis has some of the greatest coffee shops, restaurants, bars, museums and sites! You can see and do so much in the city.

My Kitchen

I love my kitchen. We totally gutted it a few years ago and remodeled it. It started out at just a new floor. I ended up with new cabinets, floor, walls, light and sink! Troy also let me pick colors. I picked red and black. Mickey Mouse! He let me order some other Mickey Mouse items for the kitchen to decorate. We already had a Mickey Mouse toaster, it sings "It's a Small World" when the toast pops. We got it as a wedding present. It's one of the best presents we got! One of the latest additions is my teapot that is painted like Mickey! I just got it this week.

Cake!

I am really enjoying my cake class. It is fun. It's what I expected, something fun to learn and different to do. We learned how to use our star tips, make roses and write on cake. Because I haven't been feeling good I didn't make a cake to practice on. Amy let me use her's. So my picture is of her cake. I contributed to the decorating with some of the stars and one of the roses. She's much better at it than I am.

Sore Throat

I woke this morning with a sore throat. This usually means I am getting sick. It's been a long time coming really. I have been going and going lately and I have not been sick all winter. So this was meant to be! It also means it's time to slow down a little. I was going to bake a cake tonight for tomorrow night's cake class. Oh well that's not going to happen. I'll just have to use my practice board and not a cake! There's always next week! For now it's me and my cough drops.
